Morocco: World Bank mobilizes $500 million to boost employment and green transition

The World Bank has approved $500 million in financing for Morocco to support the Kingdom’s efforts in employment and sustainable development.
This program represents the first phase of a set of three planned operations aimed at supporting the implementation of the national employment strategy. It seeks to have a direct impact on the population, particularly by facilitating job integration for young people and women, with more than 330,000 beneficiaries expected by 2029.
Among the priorities is also strengthening women’s participation in the labor market through the development of early childhood care facilities, with the creation of tens of thousands of places and new jobs in the sector.
At the same time, the financing aims to improve the business environment, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. Reforms are being introduced to simplify investment procedures, modernize mechanisms for managing financial difficulties and facilitate access to credit.
The World Bank’s support also covers the energy transition by encouraging investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency, while removing certain obstacles to private sector involvement.
Through this initiative, the international institution aims to support Morocco in building a more inclusive, competitive economy focused on sustainable growth.
