India: Morocco Charms Tourism Professionals at OTM 2026
The assets and richness of Morocco as a tourist destination were highlighted on Thursday evening in Mumbai during a meeting organized by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), on the sidelines of the 2026 edition of OTM (Outbound Travel Market), one of the leading international gatherings for tourism professionals seeking access to the Indian market.

The event showcased the strong tourism potential of the Kingdom while providing a platform for exchange and networking between Moroccan and Indian operators, with the aim of strengthening Morocco’s visibility in the Asian market and consolidating mutually beneficial tourism cooperation.
Speaking on the occasion, Morocco’s Ambassador to New Delhi, Mohamed Maliki, underlined the sustained growth in Indian tourist arrivals to the Kingdom, noting an increase of 31 percent in 2025 compared to 2024 and a rise of 224 percent compared to 2019.
Welcoming this momentum, the diplomat said these figures remain below the true potential of both countries, given the promising prospects of the Indian market. He expressed confidence that tourism flows would continue their upward trajectory in the coming years.
Mr. Maliki also highlighted Morocco’s positioning as a destination in constant reinvention, capable of offering each visitor a unique and renewed experience.
“Each region of Morocco holds a distinct cultural and natural richness,” he noted, pointing to the high rate of repeat visits by tourists, many of whom say they feel “at home” in the Kingdom.
The ambassador further recalled Morocco’s growing appeal as a filming destination, having hosted numerous international productions, including Indian ones, thanks to the diversity of its landscapes and the quality of its infrastructure.
During the meeting, the ONMT showcased a diverse and immersive Moroccan tourism offering, driven by the richness of cultural heritage, the elegance of the imperial cities and the variety of landscapes, from the Sahara Desert to the Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines, via the Atlas Mountains.
The event also highlighted adventure and exploration experiences, as well as a wide range of accommodation options and tailor-made travel services catering to all traveler profiles.
On this occasion, immersive videos dedicated to different cities and regions of the Kingdom were screened, offering a visual glimpse into the diversity of landscapes, cultural experiences and the Moroccan way of life.
The meeting brought together more than 200 hosted buyers, tourism professionals and representatives of specialized media outlets, who were invited on a sensory journey into the heart of Moroccan culture through traditional artistic performances, notably Gnaoua rhythms performed by a Moroccan troupe.
Guests also attended activities showcasing Morocco’s ancestral craftsmanship, including a Moroccan tea ceremony, calligraphy demonstrations, a henna ceremony and a presentation of the Moroccan caftan, a symbol of refined craftsmanship and living heritage.
As part of the fair, which runs until Saturday, the ONMT set up a 200 square meter stand serving as a showcase for the Morocco destination and hosting nine Moroccan inbound travel agencies.
The 2026 edition of OTM brings together more than 2,100 exhibitors from over 60 countries and welcomes more than 50,000 professional visitors, confirming its status as a strategic platform for access to India’s outbound tourism market.
According to sector data, Indian travelers spent nearly $31.7 billion abroad in 2024. Projections point to 80 to 90 million Indian trips per year, positioning India as the leading outbound market in the Asia-Pacific region.
