Fouzi Lekjaa: Africa’s Youth Are a Reservoir of Creativity

African youth represent a “reservoir of creativity” whose energy allows the continent’s future to be viewed with optimism, not only in football but beyond, underlined the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, on Wednesday evening in Rabat.

“The progress made by African football is partly due to a collective awareness of the need to trust our youth and provide them with the conditions that allow them to excel and rise to challenges,” stated Mr. Lekjaa during the African Confederation of Football (CAF) Awards ceremony for the year 2025.

In this context, he noted that African stars have made the glory of major international clubs in the past, with their names shining more brightly than those of their teams, adding that CAF is making strong advances in modernization and good governance.

Mr. Lekjaa also emphasized that the essence of the Moroccan experience in sport, and particularly in football, “falls within a large-scale national policy under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” highlighting that the Sovereign is convinced that sport is an integral pillar of overall development, with youth at its core.

Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, “will remain a tree rooted deeply in Africa and extending its branches toward the opposite shore of the Mediterranean, serving as a bridge and a crossing point, embodying openness that embraces creative diversity and richness, and working hand in hand with its brothers to foster a climate of fraternity and continuous cooperation,” concluded the FRMF President.

The CAF Awards ceremony was attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CAF President Patrice Motsepe, the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada, as well as leaders of African football federations and a lineup of football legends from across the continent.
