Installation of Abdelkhalek Marzouki as the new Governor of the Prefecture of Casablanca-Anfa Districts

Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah presided on Monday in Casablanca over the installation ceremony of Abdelkhalek Marzouki, appointed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI as Governor of the Prefecture of Casablanca-Anfa Districts.

Following the reading of the royal appointment decree, Ms. Fettah congratulated the new governor on the high royal trust placed in him, emphasizing that this mark of esteem reflects the culmination of a rich and exemplary professional career that demonstrates his competence, experience, and commitment to serving the public interest.

In her address, the minister noted that this appointment comes at a time of particular momentum driven by the strategic and visionary roadmap outlined by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, notably in His Throne Day speech on July 29. The Sovereign, she recalled, called for a new generation of territorial development programs.

She highlighted that these High Royal Directives, reaffirmed by His Majesty the King in His speech at the opening of the first session of the fifth legislative year of the 11th Legislature, stress the need to strengthen social and territorial justice, ensure a fair distribution of the fruits of growth, and guarantee equal opportunities for all citizens of a united Morocco in their political, economic, and social rights.

Ms. Fettah added that the implementation of these Royal Guidelines requires launching a new generation of integrated territorial development programs based on a participatory approach, broad consultation with local actors, the enhancement of regional specificities, and the strengthening of solidarity among territories.

The minister stressed that these programs must focus particularly on creating employment opportunities for young people, supporting education, training, and health sectors, and upgrading territories, while giving special priority to the most vulnerable areas.

She also underlined the importance of the economic and social upgrading of the Prefecture of Casablanca-Anfa Districts through stimulating investment, improving the quality of local services, developing infrastructure, and harnessing the region’s economic and spatial potential, all while remaining attentive to the needs of citizens.

The installation ceremony was attended by the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat Region, Mohamed Mhidia, the President of the Regional Council, Abdellatif Maâzouz, as well as several civil and military figures.
