GITEX Africa: Morocco, Real Technology Hub Serving African Continent – French Minister
Marrakech - GITEX Africa perfectly illustrates Morocco’s rise, now considered a true technology hub serving the entire African continent, French Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs Anne Le Hénanff said Monday in Marrakech.


During a meeting organized by the Consulate General of France in Marrakech on the eve of GITEX Africa 2026, Le Hénanff noted that this gathering has established itself over the years as the leading event for startups in Africa, attracting major players in innovation, investors, and project leaders from diverse backgrounds, noting that this rise in prominence reflects Morocco’s growing appeal in the digital sector.
She also welcomed the strong presence of French companies at this year’s event, emphasizing that this participation is actively supported by French regions and reflects the commitment of French economic actors to become a lasting part of the African continent’s digital momentum.
The French official also highlighted strong partnership between France and Morocco in the digital and new technologies sectors, highlighting the goal of further strengthening this strategic cooperation, drawing in particular on lively business community in the Kingdom.
In this regard, Le Hénanff spoke of flagship initiatives, including the creation of a joint research and development center for artificial intelligence (AI), aimed at supporting the development of Moroccan talent in cutting-edge technologies, as well as the establishment of a center of excellence dedicated to data and AI.
Gitex Africa Morocco 2026, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) and KAOUN International, a subsidiary of the Dubai World Trade Centre, is Africa’s largest technology and startup event.
