AI Made in Morocco: Artificial intelligence at the heart of digital transformation and public services
Rabat hosted this morning the official opening of the day titled “AI Made in Morocco: artificial intelligence at the heart of digital transformation and public services”, a major event devoted to the strategic role of AI in the Kingdom’s development. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. the Minister, marking a new stage in the implementation of the national vision for artificial intelligence.


This meeting is part of the direct continuation of the work of the National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, which concluded that AI is now a decisive lever of economic, institutional and geopolitical power. Through this initiative, Morocco is affirming its determination to make artificial intelligence a central pillar of its digital modernisation and the improvement of public services.
Launch of “JAZARI ROOT” and the structuring of a national ecosystem
One of the highlights of the day was the announcement of the launch of “JAZARI ROOT”, which is set to become the central nucleus of the network of Al-Jazari Institutes, dedicated to excellence in artificial intelligence. This structuring project aims to bring together national skills, strengthen applied research and encourage the emergence of innovative solutions tailored to Morocco’s needs.
At the same time, several partnership agreements were signed between the public, academic and private actors involved in the deployment of centres of excellence in artificial intelligence. These initiatives fully fit within the implementation of the “Morocco AI 2030” roadmap, which aims to position the Kingdom as a leading regional and African player in research, innovation and digital development.
A strategic partnership with Mistral AI
Another major announcement was the launch of the “Mistral AI & MTNRA” artificial intelligence research and development laboratory, the result of a memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and Mistral AI, one of the world leaders in generative artificial intelligence.
This laboratory will be tasked with developing advanced AI solutions, strengthening national capabilities and promoting skills transfer, while integrating Morocco’s linguistic, cultural and institutional specificities.
Towards Moroccan digital sovereignty
Through AI Made in Morocco, the Kingdom is sending a strong message: artificial intelligence is no longer a technological option, but a strategic necessity. By investing in training, research, innovation and high level international partnerships, Morocco is outlining the contours of an ambitious digital sovereignty, in the service of the performance of public administrations, economic competitiveness and social progress.
This event therefore confirms Morocco’s determination to take a lasting place in the global race for artificial intelligence, with a clear vision, concrete projects and a technological identity that is firmly Made in Morocco.
